#3 Stanford University


The Bay Area of California, some 30 miles south of San Francisco, is home to Stanford University, which was established there in 1885. At the graduate level, more than half of the student body is enrolled. The institution is divided into seven schools, many of which have a strong reputation for graduate-level education. In the humanities and sciences, earth sciences, and engineering, three of the schools provide both undergraduate and graduate programmes. About 15 miles from San Francisco, in the Bay Area, is where you'll find the University of California, Berkeley. Cal was the original name of the public university, which was established in 1868.
